Penguin Plunge 2017

Saturday 24th June - saw the 7th Annual Stanford Rotary Penguin Plunge take place on the banks of the Klein River. This is a fund-raiser for our soup kitchens feeding the elderly. We had only 78 Penguins this year (last year we had 95) but there were more Chickens and they were very generous in their donations. We managed to raise sufficient funds this year to keep the kitchens going for around 6 months. Thank you to Rotary members, Family and Friends of Rotary, the Wandelpad Team (supervised by Tony Coates) for all the hard work in organising, setting up, serving hot drinks and then taking everything down again, ready for next year - which is going to be bigger and better than ever before. We also thank those who donated the hot refreshments. Special thanks to those kind folk who deposited funds directly into our bank account because they could not be there on the day. And finally, a HUGE thank you to all you very brave Penguins for taking the plunge, and also to all the generous Chickens cheering from the bank. Here is a collection of photographs - thank you to Debbie Barr Bury for being our roving photographer.
